When a property is surrounded by trees it’s a peaceful , beautiful , comforting environment to live in. But the shade and damp are the perfect circumstances to encourage moss growth especially on concrete tiles. But , do not worry – we have the long term solution to roof moss.
The first thing we do is manually remove the thick carpet like moss. You will notice a dramatic improvement straight away…
You will be surprised at how much moss comes down. We ourselves usually are. The roof may look ‘clean ‘ at this point. But when we give it a light wash down there is still a surprising amount of moss , dirt and dust that comes away. It is not essential to ‘blast’ every last trace of moss away. Doing this would have significant wear on the lifespan of the tiles. We only need remove the majority , as our softwash treatment will do the rest.
Once all the detritus is removed from the roof and guttering , the next phase of the process is to apply a high quality biocide ( Algoclear Pro )to the surface of the tiles. We saturate the Roof making sure the remaining moss roots are flooded with the product. Also we spray in the joints and underneath the tile lap, to ensure thorough coverage. It’s much more effective to spray on a dry , calm day. We leave the product to soak in and work over the following months. The biofilm is quickly killed off on impact. However the chemical resides in the concrete and offers long term protection against regrowth. The results of the cleaning process will be revealed over time as the wet, dry, hot , cold weather cycle takes effect on the roof.
For most properties we recommend a bi-annual maintenance biocide treatment . This will ensure a long term solution to roof moss.
