Would you like to know how to clean K Render? The answer is….. carefully ! We have cleaned thousands of square metres of K Render in different locations throughout Yorkshire and even the UK. The outside of your building will look fabulous when K Render is first installed. However, it can soon begin to look tired and grubby. Fear not, it will in most cases be an easy fix.
Why has my K Rend changed colour?
This mainly will depend on the surrounding environment and conditions, including the climate. Most of the contaminates and soiling that we encounter are organic. This means algae has grown or colonised on the wall surface due to damp conditions. DONT WORRY this is not a problem with your building and you do not have a ‘damp ‘ problem. It is actually a healthy sign that nature is thriving where you live, as pollution actually hinders this type of growth.
Should I pressure wash my render?
No not really. While it can be a handy tool in some cases, we often see damage caused by inappropriate use of pressure washers on K rend. It will likely need a light wash down , especially in concealed corners and under eaves. For this, a pressure washer should be used but on a low power setting and a high volume flow of water.
But to address the problem issue of colour change, K-rend should be ‘ softwashed’ – this means using chemical treatment to alter the molecular structure of the algae. It will soon break down and disappear.
What product should I use?
There are products available online or from the shelf at B and Q like Wet and Forget . K Rend recommend a product for DIY use called Algae clean. There are many with similar titles… if it says it will remove algae then it most likely will. However by the time you have worked out how to apply it to the whole property it may have been better to call a professional with experience , professional equipment and industry grade products like Algoclear Pro.
