As more modern finishes to buildings are being installed, many people ask the question- can you pressure wash render? There are many contractors now advertising ‘ softwashing ‘ and proudly advertising that they do not use pressure washers. So , is a pressure washer the wrong tool for a cleaning contractor to use ? Will it damage your building?
It could cause damage, if in the wrong hands…
But, An EXPERIENCED, DILLIGENT contractor will know how to SAFELY and EFFECTIVELY clean your render using a pressure washer as part of the process.
Variables play a part- Distance from surface, nozzle selection and size, output of machine and setting, volume ,psi and temperature of water. Most render cleaning jobs need a light wash before or after the cleaning product is applied. This is key. The cleaning product or mix of chemical is vital. This is the part often described as ‘softwashing’. On surveying and quoting your property we decide our method, technique, choice of chemical and access. A soiled, dirty building would likely need a pressure wash before chemical application. Then possibly a wash down to finish. Only a combination of both methods- chemical application (softwash) AND light pressure wash can achieve satisfactory results
When you are getting quotes carefully select the right company. Ask them to see there Method Statement, Risk Assessment, plus Insurance covering the specific task in hand. True, cleaning is not rocket science- But it can go wrong and bad results sometimes can be irreversible. A cheap quote may not be the best option. Do your research and quizz the contractors. If they cannot answer your questions then find someone who can.
