Maintaining your resin drive…
Resin driveways are LOW maintenance. This means they do NEED maintenance. It needs cleaning occasionally. First let’s look at exactly what the substrate is.
There are different methods use to install the surface. The ‘resin bonded’ method puts the resin down first then adds the aggregate. The ‘resin bound’ mixes the resin and aggregate together first, and then it is applied to the base. The latter of these ( bound ) is permeable, meaning any surface water will drain straight through. The prior ( bonded ) will have run off drains probably in front of a garage door or near the house. Both of these are suitable for pressure washing. If you notice loose aggregate or ‘beads’ this could be a fault with the installation as the resin has not glued it together.
Mossy problems….
Once moss and algae has taken hold it can be quite tricky to remove. We recommend using Algoclear for cleaning hard surfaces and controlling organic growth. Once you have got things under control a regular application is required. Remember, just because there is no growth visible to the human eye it doesn’t mean it’s not there. The biofilm will be steadily building up.
Wear and tear…
The most common cause of spoiling a resin drive is wear and tear from vehicles. Try not to turn the steering wheel when the car is stationery.Also regular sweeping will avoid tires ‘crunching and grinding’ any loose aggregate which can in turn, remove even more of the surface.
