What is black spot ?
Black spot is a symbiotic organism that is formed by algae fungi and bacteria in dark damp conditions. It does not cause damage but it ruins the appearance of stone. When left untreated it spreads and can really spoil a patio and garden environment.

How do we remove it ?
Pressure washing will remove a layer of green algae but the black spot is attached within the stones surface and will need an induced chemical reaction to remove it. We use industrial strength ingredients at specifically diluted rates with the correct blend of surfactants. These are indeed dangerous chemicals and should be used cautiously. Care should be taken around plants and grass. Appropriate safety clothing should be worn including eye and skin protection. The choice of tools to apply chemicals is also important. Our equipment is designed and built to withstand harsh chemicals and also be able to be versatile according to the job in hand. We may need to apply chemicals to massive areas quickly. Or we may need to apply it to small areas in a closed environment. The beauty of this is that we can apply repeat applications quickly and therefore use less concentrated dilution of product. The surrounding environment has to be considered. Sometimes a simple watering can , bucket and brush does the job!

PLEASE BE AWARE pets should be kept indoors until chemicals are evaporated or rinsed away.
Care should be taken around plants ,trees ,grass, and especially aquatic life.
Will it come back?
It will never get the chance to form again . That’s because once you have seen your patios original appearance restored you will be keen to keep it that way with regular maintenance cleans. We can give you a plan and price to keep on top of things.
