This decking was installed around 5 years ago. It is made from pressure treated ( tanalised ) pine. This is a chemical process which makes the wood durable for outdoors. As you can see it has begun to look tired, vulnerable to rot and even slippy underfoot.
We were asked to clean it and apply an attractive finish that will protect the woods integrity.
Next is the staining. We used Aquadecks from Owatrol with a Honey tint. This is more expensive than brands from DIY chains , however it will outlast them all by far and you will not go back to cheaper brands after seeing the results.
Going forward this decking will require an annual clean and every two years a top up coat of Aqua decks. Plus sweeping and hosing off by the client every month or two will help.
