Do you need your Black limestone patio cleaning ? Have you tried washing it and it still looks grubby, grey or faded ?
It most likely will need restoring with a dedicated product.
Be careful with what products you use. Limestone is calcium based and could have a bad reaction to acid based products which can be bought cheaply at DIY chains. Beware also, that Bleach based products can cause irreversible damage.
We were asked to clean this large Indian limestone patio. Despite frequent pressure washing the homeowner could not achieve the desired results and were fed up of constant staining due to barbecue spills , rust stains , leaf stains , tire marks , limescale build up from hot tub , bird droppings plus UV damage !

After we have washed the patio we can then see the extent and type of stains and decide which cleaning products will be effective yet cause least possible long term damage.
The main patio and the sandstone capping stones cleaned up well and were ready to be sealed – once this process is complete water is prevented from soaking into the stone . This stops staining , inhibits algae growth, allows ease of maintenance and also protects from frost/ thaw damage.
We took a different approach on the black limestone borders. UV light and natural weathering has caused a severe loss of colour. We restored them with an impregnating sealer specifically designed for this substrate. Not only do they look fabulous, they are protected for at least 5 years against erosion and re occurring colour loss.
The homeowner can now enjoy cleaning his patio with his pressure washer, because he can now get pleasing results.
