We also notice It is also being more commonly sought after recently, dispelling the myth that you shouldn’t bother cleaning your roof. We can provide you a price quotation, a full method description with options tailored to your requirements.
What’s the cleaning process?
Each roof is a different job. So after a site visit we make a plan , taking into account your expectations and most importantly your budget.
Access to the roof is obviously a big factor. Options are -scaffolding, portable tower, roof ladders, or in some cases we may use powered access with a cherry picker. We have licences to use these.
The choice of which method can be determined by the condition of your roof tiles. MOST roofs we clean are perfectly good enough to rest a roof ladder on as they are designed to spread the weight. Should the tiles not be suitable for resting on we have long reach equipment to do the task from gutter height. Other factors to consider are the pitch and layout of roof, along with the surrounding ground surface below.

Will it damage the tiles?
The LAST thing we want to do is break, move or erode your roof-tiles. In many cases we can remove the moss without pressure washing it. We scrape the moss clumps off with metal scrapers first. Then a brush and a rinse down. This leaves it ready for biocide treatment.
In some cases, where appropriate we fully pressure wash roofs. This is by far the most thorough clean available. Pressure washing a roof every year would shorten the lifespan of the tile. However, as a one off clean it really is the most effective method.
Do you spray the tiles to stop moss coming back ?
We treat the roof tiles with Algoclear Pro biocide. This kills all organic life that’s remaining on the clean tile ( including a biofilm invisible to the eye). We guarantee the roof will be sterile when we leave the job.
We can’t stop Mother Nature, so left untreated for years to come…the moss would return. We can advise on the frequency of maintenance treatments you will need to keep any algae growth at bay. The Worst case would be annually, while others may be 5 years. This depends on surrounding trees and light/ shade conditions. North facing aspects are always more severely affected by algae and moss growth.
